All Things Work Together Part – 1

Jonah 1: 1 – 3 ———Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.”  But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.
God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and cry against the wickedness that was prevalent there. Instead of obeying God, Jonah said no and tried to run away from God’s presence. Hence God sent a storm in his life while he sailing away.

The men in the ship asked Jonah why the storm had come upon them, and they were curious as to who he was, where he was from, and what his occupation was.
They asked him what they could do to calm the storm. Jonah told them they would have to throw him overboard. After some hesitation, they did just that and a great fish that God had prepared just for this moment swallowed up Jonah and he was inside the belly of the fish for 3 days and 3 nights.
Jonah’s prayer for deliverance ends with him being vomited out upon the dry land of Nineveh.

In every storm, there is a correction; Jonah was going on in the wrong direction and God corrected him. In the same way in our lives when we are going through a storm, there has to be some correction we have to make. In the middle of our storm, God will help us as we make the correction to develop a new character, a character of Jesus. We are moulded and transformed the more we make corrections.

We all want miracles in our life. When life gets tough … tough beyond what we think we can handle on our own … we reach out for miracles.   We plead …

  • Let this illness pass over me or my loved one
  • Give me a way to provide for myself and my family
  • Bring me, someone, to love
  • Help me get out of this situation that’s causing such intense pain
  • Protect my loved ones from the harm they’re subjecting themselves to

If we want a miracle we have to follow Gods instructions. Only those who follow God’s instructions will experience His manifestation. The Bible is a book where God gives us instructions by which any person can live a victorious life. We do not have the capacity to follow these instructions but by the power of the Holy Spirit, we have that ability.
