Matthew 28:18-20——–And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Through the storm, the disciples were able to learn that Jesus is all-powerful and the mighty creator and Lord of all. The storm terrified these men but it posed no problem for the Lord Jesus. He rebuked the wind and spoke to the sea. When He did that the wind fell silent and the sea became flat. Stilling the storm was as easy for Jesus as healing the sick and casting out devils. He easily controlled the storm.
Why do people become afraid? — Because they lose faith. Faith is the answer to fear. This is the first lesson which comes to us out of this incident. Faith is always the answer to our fears, regardless of what they are. Jesus put his finger right on it: “Have you no faith?” (Mark4:40).
The disciples learnt through the storm that Jesus is all-powerful and the Lord of all. Even though the wind and waves threatened to kill them, Jesus has the power over all creation. The same storm and passage is teaching us that we have been given the same power to speak to the storm that is threatening us.
Ephesians 3:20—— Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine,
If we believe that God can silence the storm, we need not be worried. When we worry unceasingly about the storms in our life we are saying “Yes, this storm is too big for God”.
God can and will do far more than what we can imagine or ask Him. This power is in us and has been given to us by God. The key to victory in our storm is love; this love is unconditional and unlimited. If love is working in us, God will make real in our life much more than what we think and imagine for our lives.
DIFFICULTIES AND OBSTACLES ARE GOD’S CHALLENGES TO FAITH. WHEN HINDRANCES CONFRONT US IN THE PATH OF DUTY, WE ARE TO RECOGNIZE THEM AS VESSELS FOR FAITH TO FILL WITH THE FULLNESS AND ALL – SUFFICIENCY OF JESUS.
