All Things Work Together Part – 9

Mark 4: 35 – 38 ——On  the same day, when evening had come; He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”  Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.  And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.  But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Jesus told the disciples that he would take them to the other side of the sea safely. God always keeps His Word. Despite the storm, the disciples reached safely on the other side and learnt that God is as good as His Word. God is Everything He has promised He will do. He will not back away from any promise He has made in His Book. He is God and He can be trusted to keep His promises to His people.

The disciples also learnt something about Jesus’ comfort. While they were terrified and waiting to die, what is the Lord doing? Jesus was sleeping because He knows He is at the centre of His Father’s will. Jesus knows that He will die on a cross and not in a shipwreck. Jesus can sleep during the storm because He trusts His Father to take care of Him. Jesus has peace because He trusts His Father.

If a situation does not bother the Lord, we should not allow it to bother us either. He is the prince of peace and He is able to share His peace with His people. That is His promise and that is what He will do(John 14:27 and Philippians 4:13).

Jesus sent the disciples through the storm to teach them a lesson that they could have learnt in no other way. It would have been nice if they would simply believe Jesus after seeing Him do all the great things. It would have been great if they could have taken the things the Lord did for others and applied it to their own lives. The disciples seemed unable to see the works of Jesus and apply it in their own lives. The disciples understood that they must trust Jesus in the storm.

Through testimonies, we are able to take that information and apply it in our own life and overcome the storm in our life.

When faced with real life hurts and issues, trusting God when we don’t understand is easier said than done. When we don’t understand what God is doing in our life, consider the source – Who is it that you’re trusting; God or yourself?

Man is fallible; we fall short and at times we’re unable to keep our promises.  Man can give instructions that are misleading and imperfect.  With God, none of these things are possible.  God keeps His promises, God gives us right instructions according to His perfect will and He won’t mislead us.

No matter how much we don’t understand life as it is right now; no matter how uncomfortable it may seem or how hard it gets, don’t give up.  If God is with you –  the same God who spoke life into you, the same God who IS and knows the beginning and the end, the same God who knew you before the foundation of this world -is with you, then ask yourself who or WHAT can stand against you?
