Bless the Lord, O My Soul Part – 6

Psalm 10:34 ——- Who redeems your life from the Pit. Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.

As a frequent shopper at a particular store, we collect points from that store that can be redeemed at a later date or anytime we desire. In exchange for these points, we can pick whatever we desire from the redemption catalogue.

Similarly, God has redeemed us from the snares of the devil. But He did this in exchange for a great price. The price was the life of His Son – Jesus. Remember, we were not purchased with the riches of this world but through the very life of Jesus. God’s love for us is beyond all imagination and understanding because He shed His blood for us.

Adam was created in the likeness and image of God and God gave him authority over this earth. We all know Adam disobeyed God and it not only affected Adam but the entire human race. Every child that is born in this world is born with original sin.  Through baptism, we receive Jesus as our Saviour and we are accepted into God’s family. We have received new life through Jesus.

Yet because Satan has through original sin qualified us to go to hell, the only way to avoid hell was through redemption. This redemption could come through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Just as Adam’s disobedience affected the entire human race, the obedience of Jesus also brought about salvation to the entire race. The difference between Jesus and us is that he was born without original sin because this nature of sin is transferred into a child through a man’s relationship with a woman. The Bible says it was through man’s disobedience that sin entered this world.

Jesus went through the journey even unto death with total obedience to God. Now that we belong to Jesus it is illegal for Satan to touch us as now we belong to Jesus. Satan lost the battle for our soul and spirit when Jesus died without committing sin.  Then Jesus preached the Gospel to those who died before Him and those who received the Gospel also rose with Him. He rose from the dead with the same authority that Adam had lost in the Garden of Eden.

That is why today we who believe in Jesus, use His name and  sicknesses are healed, demons are cast out and the dead are raised. We are redeemed from hell and have been given eternal life from the moment we accepted Jesus in our life.
