John3:16 —– “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
Men and women have suffered indescribable pain because of their love of it. Some have given all they have for a copy of it. Others spend their whole lives studying it. Some have asked to be buried with it. Millions count it as their most valuable possession.
What is this wondrous thing? It is the Bible, the Word of God. The Word of God has great power. Nearly 2,000 years after it was written it is still changing peoples’ lives.
A person can love God’s Word to get more knowledge, but when that knowledge is applied in their daily life it can save the person. When a person is in love with God’s Word, their relationship with God becomes more intimate, and this intimacy motivates them to submit themselves more and more to God’s will irrespective of the worldly consequences.
Submitting ourselves to God’s Word means “doing what God desires us to do”. God’s Word is His desire. When we truly love God, we with our own free will put to death our desires and make God’s desires our own. The only reason that we do this is because we love Him. To love God is to love His Word and to align ourselves to what it says. When we walk in “God kind of love”, the favour of God is activated in our life.
King Jehoshaphat had the armies of three kingdoms coming against Him (2Chronicles 20). This meant sure defeat for King Jehoshaphat. He gathered the country and together they prayed and fasted. They didn’t panic. The king did not call his advisors and plan the best strategy to win. The King requested all to pray. He put his trust in the Almighty. Can God resist such trust? God’s favour descended on him and his kingdom. The Bible says God sent confusion in the enemy’s camp. The three armies fought amongst themselves and destroyed themselves and King Jehoshaphat was declared winner.
When we are doers of the Word of God and walk in love, confusion reigns and destroys the enemy’s camp. Walking in God’s love activates God’s favour in our lives. All we need to do is LOVE GOD and LOVE HIS WORD!
