Coming to the Light Part – 5

Ephesian 5:8 —— For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

Light is a symbol in the Bible, Living in light, then, means living in truth and living in holiness. On the contrast, darkness refers to ignorance, and to evil.

God’s Word is light, intellectual truth and knowledge.  Darkness is being blinded to knowledge, blinded to the gospel.

Psalm 119: 105 —– Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path

God is light and in Him is no darkness.  If you are a son of God, you are a son of light, and if you are a son of light, there is no darkness at all in you.  In other words, when you were redeemed, you were fully redeemed.  There is no residual darkness.

1 John 1:5-7 ——This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

God created man in His likeness and image. Thus man was created to the highest level like the very nature of God. But Lucifer with his selfish nature rebelled against God. The moment Adam disobeyed God, he received the nature of the devil and the nature of God was cut off. That nature of the devil produced different kind of sins.  Sin causes us to rebel against God. But the blood of Jesus cleanses us and removes that root of sin from our spirit and replaces it with the nature of God.

This rebellious and sinful nature is destroyed in our spirit but the selfishness that our mind has learnt over the years must now be unlearned or deleted. To delete that we need to read the Word of God, meditate on it and use it to cleanse our mind of all the darkness within it.

Gradually the darkness and selfishness in our mind will be destroyed through the cleansing action of the Word of God.However in order to stay on track, we need to make an effort to read and meditate on the Word of God daily or as often as the devil attacks us in our mind.
