John 15:24—— If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.
When we live our life according to the Gospel it will always be followed by wonders and hatred, in the same way as a shadow follows a person that walks in the light. Those who still choose to hate us do so because they hate the Lord.
There is a great joy and blessing in following Christ but along with that, there is also persecution and opposition from the kingdom of darkness. Hence spiritual warfare is very necessary.
In our spiritual life, there is always spiritual warfare – an external pressure trying to get into our hearts and weigh us down. So it resultsin depression. This is actually internalised stress and pressure. Battles and blessings will be prevalent in our life. We cannot prevent troubles from coming into our lives. However, we can prevent those things from weighing our hearts down and causing us to be depressed.
We have read about the lives of Moses, Joshua, Gideon, David, Jesus and Paul. All of them went through extreme external pressures and difficulties. On one side was what God had promised them and on the others side was their negative situation trying to destroy what they believed and hoped for. All those things coming against them were designed to make them quit.
Negative thoughts cause depression and defeat. What are you being exposed to? What is causing you to think the way you do? Locate where you are getting your information and make the Word of God your primary source of information. You can control your reaction to negative events and circumstances. Each day you can choose whether you are going to have a good day or a bad one.
If you respond according to God’s Word, every negative situation will turn out to be good. A bad day can always turn good with the Word of God!
God gives His Own Self totally to us that we may offer ourselves completely to Him.
