Philippians 4:7—— And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
A mind at peace is not a vacant mind. Rather it is a mind not at war with itself. It is a mind free from inner conflict. It is a mind which can work effectively and exercise that wisdom which is from above which is first pure – purified – from fleshly strife and turmoil.
A mind at peace focuses on that which is true, honourable, just, pure, lovely, gracious, excellent, and praiseworthy and it marks those who demonstrate the power of Christ in their lives and imitates them, learns from them and rejects the role models thrust at us day in and day out by a corrupt, greedy, and increasingly violent world.
Isaiah 26:3-4 —— You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
One of the Devil’s favourite tools with Christians is DISCOURAGEMENT! He tries to get us looking at our own mistakes, sins, weaknesses and failures! He just picks and picks at all our little flaws and shortcomings and exaggerates and blows them up out of all proportion! This is one of the Devil’s favourite tactics. He knows that it’s impossible for him to defeat us as long as we keep on fighting, so he tries to persuade us that we are a hopeless case, so we might as well surrender and give up.
When we trust in God the devil does not immediately stop – he attacks us with bigger battles. When this happens God teaches us bigger tactics and methods of staying on the right path. God is greater than any of our problems put together. Trust in the Lord forever, not only when things go fine, big miracles occur when there is trouble all around you. If we give in to worry and anxiety we abort the miracle of God.
God not only gives us peace but strength beyond our capacity, beyond our ability, so we will not be tired. We will soar with God, like an eagle. Sparrows flap their wings; but eagles spread their wings and soar higher and higher. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are those, whose mind is fixed on God and they are like eagles.
When we keep our minds focused on God we engage in His peace. Many a time, we try to talk to ourselves into getting out of worry by simply telling ourselves not to do so. Just saying ‘don’t worry’ will not work. What works is Jesus and His Word; this worry is a spiritual warfare. It is a spirit that tries to captivate your mind by giving you fearful commentary about your situation.
When you’re being attacked by the Enemy, don’t just stand there & take it, hit him back! Quote Scriptures & sock it to him with the WORD!–That’s the way JESUS fought back when the Devil tempted and lied to Him! He just quoted Scriptures: “It is WRITTEN!” He fought him with the WORD! And we must also do the same.
