2 Corinthians 4:7 – But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
If you think that you really, truly own anything in this universe, you’re mistaken. Because God owns it all.
When we talk about personal finance, it’s easy to make plans about what we’re going to do with “our money.” But when we talk about “our money,” it’s important to understand what that really means. The money isn’t ours in the sense that we own it; it’s simply ours in the sense that we’re responsible for managing it.
Too often, though, we begin to believe that the things that we have are really ours. This attitude can get down into our hearts and cause us to become slaves to money. To break free, we’ve got to replace that erroneous idea with this true one: God owns it all.
We are stewards of God following His instructions. The Holy Spirit in us empowers us to obey God’s Word and thus we will use our resources for the Kingdom of God through service of our brethren in need.
1 Peter 2:19 – For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.
When we serve someone, we can either be a servant by choice or be a servant by force. Since we are in Christ we have to be submissive (1 Peter 2:18-19). Jesus was submissive to His Father and accepted all that the Father asked of Him. The Bible clearly says when we are submissive in the midst of injustice, God takes over the battle. If however we choose to fight our own battles, God takes a back seat and allows us to be in the forefront.
When suffering unjustly and silently, if we are focussing on the Word of God, It is a credit to us. We can suffer unjustly for many reasons but doing it for God is commendable. In a culture that often is given over to a word-based revenge, to foul, lowest-common-denominator rebuttal, to name-calling, the need for some sacrificial silence is long overdue and pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit will empower us to be silent .
DO YOU KNOW THAT NOTHING YOU DO IN THIS LIFE WILL EVER MATTER, UNLESS IT IS ABOUT LOVING GOD AND LOVING THE PEOPLE HE HAS MADE.
