Jesus the Lamb of God Part – 3

Galatians3:22 — But the Scripture has confined all under sin that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

In the Old Testament, the blood of the animal only covered sin but never forgave sin. The Holy Spirit could not dwell in a person because of sin but the blood of Jesus erases every bit of sin.

The Bible helps us to see why the blood of Jesus holds such a special place in our hearts.

Adam and Eve succumbed to Satan’s temptations and lies. In doing so, they disobeyed the will of God by eating of the tree of knowledge from which they were forbidden. This was the first sin committed by man, and, as a result, all mankind is subject to both physical and eternal death by virtue of our sinful nature inherited from Adam.

But God, in His grace and mercy, provided a way out of this dilemma, the shed blood of His perfect Son on the cross. This is why Jesus came and He died, to become the ultimate and final sacrifice, the perfect (without blemish) sacrifice for our sins. Through Him, the promise of life eternal with God becomes effective through faith to those who believe in Jesus.

The Bible says life is in the blood. The Blood of Abel was crying out for justice when Abel was killed by his brother. The blood of Jesus speaks about atonement and forgiveness of sins to the Father.

Pharaoh would not allow the Israelites to leave Egypt so God sent Moses to warn Pharaoh about the plagues. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he refused to free the Israelites despite seeing the plagues. God sent the last plague which was the angel of death who was to kill the first born male child in every household. However, if the blood of the sacrificed lamb was sprinkled on the doorpost, that household was spared a visit from the Angel of death. The angel of death would pass over such houses.

The blood of Jesus protects us from the angel of death. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, the sacrificial lamb for all eternity. When the Israelites sacrificed a lamb, it was seasonal. The blood of Jesus was shed for all eternity, sanctifying and justifying us.

By the blood of Jesus, we are separated from the world, we belong to the kingdom of God; we are the citizens of heaven. The very nature of God has been given to us so that we live a way that is pleasing to Him.
