“Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Many people come for retreat after retreat, for years and years, but do not see a change in their lives, because if we do not follow God’s ways, we cannot move forward. We get opportunities to practice this Word in our daily life and if we do so, it will change our character. It will make us lovable and forgiving and this brings change around us.
According to verse 12, the prophets before us were persecuted; will we not experience the same? If we walk in joy we will get the rewards of heaven, not of this earth. We have to learn this walk and practise it daily. If we do not know what do to, just give God thanks and praise. Even if negative things occur, we have to remember that in the end we are overcomers through our faith and for that we must praise and thank God.
There is extreme power when you turn your focus to Jesus even in the worst situation of your life.
I want you to know, beloved, that what has happened to me has actually helped to spread the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to everyone else that my imprisonment is for Christ;
Saint Paul says, all this time he has been preaching to those outside but now He gets a chance to preach to the guards because of his imprisonment. He thanks God for His situations because God’s turn every situation into good for those who live Him. Without looking at himself, Saint Paul preaches the Gospel and takes advantage this opportunity.
