Hebrews 6:9——– But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner.
The above scripture tells us that there are better things in store for those who believe that Jesus took our place on the cross. All that we need to do is to change our thinking and believe in the finished work of Jesus.
1 Peter 2:24 —– who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
What do we say when we are sick in our body? How do we feel after a visit to the doctor and have collected a worrisome report? Of course, we will be worried and unhappy and close to tears. Our mind is whirling with the symptoms of our ailment, the doctor’s instructions about medicines, diet etc., our fears about the future and how it will affect us and our family.
But the Word of God in the above scripture declares that “by the stripes of Jesus we are already healed”. He has declared it but we have to believe the unseen. If we believe only what we can see, no amount of prayers can help us.
During one of our retreats i met a sister who was unable to walk. I explained to her that when Jesus hung on the cross, His whole Body was wounded, every part of it, so that we may be healed. The Bible in 1Peter2:24 declares that by the wounds of Jesus we were healed. I told this sister to say that and begin to walk. When she opened her mouth she said,” Jesus, heal me”. Her mind was not on what God has declared but on what her body was going through. When a person makes a prayer like this, it is walking in the flesh.
On one of our CDs named Sower and the Seed there is a testimony of a lady named Angeline. The doctors diagnosed her with an incurable disease, and told her it would ultimately show up as cancer. Her haemoglobin count was extremely low.
She makes a decision to refuse to believe the physical and only believe the Word of God. She listens and speaks the Word of God constantly. She takes on her sickness with God as her partner! No worry. No fear.
On the tenth day she finds herself bleeding profusely. She has never seen so much blood pouring out of her body before. But she refuses to budge from her conviction that “she is healed by the stripes of Jesus”. The next day is her day of rejoicing. The illness is destroyed never to touch her again. This happened eight years ago and she has never been sick again even once since then.
We can speak God’s Word out of our mouth and still be worried. As long as worry exists we still walk in the flesh and there will be no benefit.
