Living a Fearless Life Part – 3

Romans 5:4-5 – Endurance brings God’s approval, and His approval creates hope. This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out His love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God’s gift to us.

Love is one of the primary characteristics of God. Likewise, God has endowed us with the capacity for love, since we are created in His image. This capacity for love is one of the ways in which we are created in the image of God.  This perfect love is only experienced by those who meditate and keep the Word of God. Love is not just an emotion. Love is a decision to obey. It is a power and it can be experienced when we abide by God’s Word because God is love.

If we are afraid of the future, eternity, or God’s judgment, we can remind ourselves of God’s love. We know that He loves us perfectly and unconditionally. We can resolve our fears first by focusing on His immeasurable love for us, and then by allowing Him to love others through us. His love will quiet our fears and give us confidence.

When we begin to experience His love, fear will be cast out of our mind and our heart. It is a continuous battle within us.  Every time we want to obey His Word and walk according to it, we will get these devilish negative thoughts; thoughts of defeat and unfavourable situations to the extent that we will be discouraged in following God’s Word.  A person, who counters these thoughts with God’s word, will be hearing God’s voice through the Scriptures.  Now we will have a fellowship with God which will lead us deeper into the spiritual understanding which we could not do earlier.

We may feel like we are going through a struggle all alone. But from the moment we ask Jesus to bring us into His family, He is there by our side to the very end. Every difficulty in our life, whether big or small, is something God will use to produce more strength, faith and perseverance.  This is because our focus is on the Lord; our focus is to love unconditionally, to forgive unconditionally, to refuse to walk in offence. We will then have nothing to fear because we now walk in love.

“If we are united with Christ, we do not have to fear any enemies and adversaries, but it also means that we have to hold on to Him tightly without loosening our grip,” – Pope Francis
