Proverbs 18:19 —— A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Offence is like a road block! It arrests progress until it is removed. Allowing offence to overcome us will rob us of our life, health, harmony and endless benefits. It steals our joy, peace and power to live a vibrant life of purpose. On the other hand, overcoming Offence brings release of new life, health, harmony and endless benefits.
Just a sentence can keep offence going on for years as happened in my family. My dad confronted me once for returning home late. It offended me and I packed my bag and left home. I broke all ties with them. My mum was heartbroken and eventually went into depression. She could not believe that I would cut off relationships with them this way. Eventually, she died. My Dad was grief stricken and did not leave the house for an entire year. My family which was full of life, and possessed all that money could buy, was destroyed by OFFENCE.
But my life spiralled out of control and I lost my memory. I could not recall the names of my wife and children. Praise God, I was brought to a place where the Gospel was preached. My stony heart was broken and I received a heart of flesh. In the midst of my financial problems, my parents came to my rescue and helped me. They did not preach to me but their actions showed that they cared deeply about me and my family.
This seed of unconditional love was so powerful it destroyed the stronghold of the enemy. Agape love is God Himself
“DARKNESS CANNOT DRIVE OUT DARKNESS; ONLY LIGHT CAN DO THAT. HATE CANNOT DRIVE OUT HATE; ONLY LOVE CAN DO THAT.”
