Psalms 23:5 —— You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
When the mass is celebrated, Satan is also present. He encourages us to keep our sin secret and exhorts us to blame our wrong doings on others or circumstances. But when we confess our sins and repent sincerely we defeat Satan.
When we bring our sin to the light it is destroyed. When we confess our sin, the blood of Jesus cleanses us and makes us righteous. The table of banquet is one of grace, where our soul is cleansed.
Jesus has a great purpose for our life. But for God’s purpose to be implemented in our life, our soul needs to be cleansed. This cleansing takes place only through the blood of Jesus. It gives us the strength to withstand the power of Satan. God anoints our head with oil.
Isaiah 10:27 —— It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
When a child of the Lord who is lost renews their mind and comes back to the Lord to get recharged and empowered, the celebration of the Eucharist is complete. Captivity is destroyed because of the anointing in the Eucharist. And from then on when we are tested we are able to overcome and destroy the evil one.
God rejoices over and honours every sinner who repents. He doesn’t wait for a full and formal apology; He perceives the attitude and comes toward us. His joyful acceptance of us sinners, tell us that He is always ready to welcome a returning child.
At the Eucharistic table everyone is the same, our status does not matter. We are all united in Jesus; and all Christians come together as one. The oil flows and covers every area of our life. And after we are anointed, this anointing flows from us to those around us.
