Seek First Part – 3

Matthew 6:33 —— But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

By seeking God, we take the first step to having a relationship with Him. Having a personal relationship with God begins the moment we realize our need for Him, admit we are sinners, and in faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior.

It is not enough to talk to God in a group. He also wants to have a personal relationship with us. We can talk to God every moment of our life. And we can hear God talk back to us through His Written Word!

Having a personal relationship with God means we should include God in our daily lives. We should pray to Him, read His word, and meditate on verses in an effort to get to know Him better. We should take our requests to Him, asking in Jesus’ name (John 15:16) .Jesus is the one who loves us enough to give His life for us and He is the one who bridged the gap between us and God.

When I was young, Michael Jackson was a craze! I looked at his dance and music videos and fell in love with the way he danced. I would watch the videos repeatedly in an attempt to learn the dance steps. In the same way, if we look into God’s Word repeatedly, we can imitate the way He encourages us to behave. We can practice the instructions in God’s Word.  When we seek God we adopt the nature of God. We have the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength. By seeking God’s ways, we experience a supernatural life.

How many of us would like to imitate Jesus on the cross? Any takers???????

During the Last Supper, Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him, He could see Peter who was going to deny Him, He could see the rest who would flee from Him, but He still fulfilled His Fathers will.

We have to meditate on this passage because we have all experienced betrayal by people close to us. In the midst of this betrayal do we continue on the mission God as called us for?

Jesus had twelve Apostles and no favourites.  But out of the twelve, Peter, James and John had the most intimate relationship evident during the transfiguration.

This personal relationship with God is not as hard to find as we might think, and there is no mysterious formula for getting it. As soon as we become children of God, we receive the Holy Spirit, who will begin to work on our hearts. We should pray without ceasing, read the Bible, fellowship with like-minded people and all these things will help us to grow spiritually.

Trusting in God to get us through each day and believing that He is our sustainer is the way to have a relationship with Him. Although we may not see changes immediately, we will begin to see them over time, and all the truths will become clear.
