Seeking The Things That Are Above Part – 3

Colossians 3:1-2 —— If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

I could never imagine that I would be a blessing to the people who I met. When I was living a worldly life all that I reaped was sin and destruction. But once I knew and embraced the Lord I got hooked on to the scriptures, with a deep desire to understand and memorise them and thus the desires of the world meant nothing to me.

God loves all sinners. God loves us because of who He is, not because of who we are. If God’s love was based upon our obedience, then we would all be in big trouble.

The world may say we are useless but to God we are precious. The future of so many generations is locked up in our actions and our willingness to share the Word of God with them.

There was a family who gave up a place to run a rehab. In that house the future of so many alcoholics got changed. We should not come to the retreat only to be blessed. We have to take the Word and teach others so that others also are blessed.

God has blessed us abundantly with various resources and is going to ask us what we have done with His resources. When the Lord heals us what are we doing after receiving good health to spread His Word? We have to reach out to others who are sick as well.

There was a mentally disturbed person who was admitted to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital to visit that person and brought along printed sheets of paper with only five scriptures. We visited the other rooms as well and requested them to say the same scriptures. Three years later a man comes up to me to say he remembers me. His mother was in the hospital and received one of the printed pages with the scriptures.  She learnt those scriptures and he – the son also memorised them.

Why do we tell people to memorise the scriptures?

The Scripture is the Word that became flesh. If you memorise a scripture and repeat it 100 times a day, with sincerity, you will see it bring about a change in your life. But this requires commitment.

Are you committed and willing to seek God?
