When we go through the story of Joseph we are amazed as to how God fulfilled his dream. But, we do not see the number of snares that he had to overcome. He repulsed every snare with love and forgiveness and that is the reason why the Lord was with Joseph.
Genesis 39:21-23 – 21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. 23 The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.
The Lord gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison, It is highly probable, that the keeper might have been previously acquainted with Joseph and have had access to know his innocence of the crime laid to his charge, but there was a higher influence at work; for “the Lord was with Joseph, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.” When you walk in love, God’s favour will be with you wherever you go and whatever circumstances you are in. The more you operate in love there will be more manifestation of God’s Glory.
Those who have a good conscience, even in a prison, will have God there. God gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison; he trusted him to manage the affairs of the prison. A good man will do well wherever he is, and will be a blessing even in bonds and banishment.
There may be many distressing circumstances we find ourselves in, and some of them may even be unjust, as were those in Joseph’s life. However, as we learn from the account of Joseph’s life, by remaining faithful and accepting that God is ultimately in charge, we can be confident that God will reward our faithfulness in the fullness of time .
There are many people in need in today’s world. Am I self-absorbed in my own concerns or am I aware of those who need help? – Pope Francis.
