Psalm 23: 2 – 3 ——He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness, For His name’s sake.
Did you know you can be free from negative thinking? The first step to your freedom is facing the truth and saying, “I’m a negative person and I want to change.” If you really want to, you can overcome it because according to the Bible, you’re a new person in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Your next step is to find out what may be blocking any positive progress. Have you ever thought that nothing good is going to happen to you? Maybe you’ve even said something like “If I don’t expect anything good to happen, I won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t.“These thoughts are obstacles in your mind, and simply recognizing them will pave the way to your freedom. As Christians, we need to learn to fight for our thoughts, because our minds don’t automatically come into agreement with God’s plans.
Once we have identified any obstacles, the next step is to start practicing being positive in all kinds of situations. We should not only purposely think right thoughts, but we must go the extra mile and speak them out loud as personal confessions of faith. Basically, God is telling us that the more time we spend meditating on His Word, the more we will see the benefits in our everyday lives and even have a closer relationship with Him. He even promises we’ll be prosperous and successful! (Joshua 1:8).
3 John 1:2 —- Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
God wants us to prosper, but He wants us to prosper in our soul first of all. If we put the priority on soul prosperity, which involves spiritual development, we are free to prosper physically. This prosperity may take many forms. We will not all be millionaires. Though some can and will have great wealth, we can all have our needs met and live without the pressure of financial lack.
So how do we prosper in the soul? We must learn to be content in our relationship with God. Nothing is more important than that. If we find ourselves in a financial struggle it does not mean that God does not love us, is angry with us or that we are, necessarily, in some kind of sin.” I am a child of God”. Whatever I have or do not have cannot change that. We must be established in this if we want to be free to prosper.
We must not allow our financial status to define us far too much. What you have or do not have is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Hundred years from now you will not care what kind of car you drove, what kind of house you lived in or even if you had all your bills paid. You will be very happy, however, that you are born again and made Jesus the Lord of your life!
That does not mean that the car, the house and the bills are not important. It just means that they are not the most important things in your life. We need to remember that everything we see will pass away, but that which we cannot see will exist forever. Hence if we focus on the Word of God, our eternity is secure and we are free to attack the other problems of life in that assurance!
“Only God can fully satisfy the hungry heart of man.”
