Matthew 5:13 —–“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
Just as salt is invaluable to human life, in the same way Christ is absolutely necessary to human life. Without Christ, eternal life in the kingdom is impossible (Acts 4:12).
The problem is if we lose our testimony and our life is no different than the unbelieving world then we lose our saltiness and then it’s only good to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. When Christians become tainted by unrepentant sin and/or bitterness and their hearts become hardened, they lose their saltiness.
We the church, are the salt of the earth. Our job is to get in touch with others and give them a taste of Jesus…….. The salt to those who are perishing without Christ!
I was dying in the kingdom of darkness – the salt that was put on me stopped the corruption and now my life is for the glory of God! The solution to this troubled world is salt. If we only remain in the church and do not share Jesus with people who we come in contact with, we are of no use in the Father’s vineyard.
Mother Teresa’s institution cares for young pregnant homeless girls, supports them during the delivery and even offers to care for their babies, thus preventing scores of abortions. The salt of the earth gives life through the love and care of the nuns —– when the salt works it works in silence but you can see the effect of that salt.
A Hindu man was sharing his testimony during a night vigil in Muscat. He had many friends. He would travel to Dubai and return to Muscat with gifts of alcohol for his friends. This went on for a while. Then suddenly he got sick and unable to walk. He was admitted to the hospital but was low on cash. But none of his friends showed up in the hospital nor did anyone offer to help him financially. There were a group of Christians who shared Christ with him. They also paid his hospital bills. When he came for the night vigil he could not walk. As he was listening to the Word of God, he understood the truth and resolved to change. He got out of his seat and began to walk!
After being healed, someone contacted him and taught him the Bible. He then joined the Bible class. His whole attitude had changed. While he was sharing his testimony, another Hindu man, suffering from cancer was listening attentively. This testimony brought hope in his life, and he also started listening to the CD. This testimony was more powerful than the teaching that night!
These testimonies are so powerful it can destroy any work of the devil in the lives of others. The purpose of our life is to be the salt of this earth. Those who are lost will be saved through us. It is time to come out of the church and share Christ with those around us and share what He has done in our life.
Faith comes alive when the Word read from the page becomes the Word heard in your heart.
