The Nature of a Disciple Part – 4

Romans 12: 1 – 2 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

One of the best ways to witness Christ is to share one’s personal experience. A witness is just one who is summoned to tell the truth about what happened to them. If it happened to you and you tell others what happened to you, then you can witness and you can explain the Scripture as it relates to your experience of salvation and Christian growth.

Jesus often told those whom he saved to go home and tell your family and friends what just happened to you. (Mark 5:19).

And the fact is, people love to hear the personal testimonies how someone else came to Christ and their sin problem was taken care of. We like to hear how someone else grew in the knowledge and grace of the Savior and how they overcame the obstacles of spiritual growth. It inspires others to take the same measures for their own problem and its remedy.

When the Lord touched my life, I was transformed, and I would minister to people on the streets and in the parking lots. I told them what Christ had done in my life. MathewMark, Luke and  John shared what they saw and experienced with Jesus – I also shared how Jesus had turned my life around. People want to hear our testimony and see if our behaviour and response corresponds to the Word of God – when they see the change, they also start thirsting for Christ in their life.

If someone has a sore throat and gargles with salt water, the salt kills the bacteria and the throat feels ok. Similarly we are the salt that destroys sickness and disease and other works of the devil in our life and the lives of others.

At a Bible class in Muscat, I met a lady who was suffering from arthritis. This caused her great pain in her joints and also caused her to limp while walking.  I was excited because here was an opportunity to kill that arthritis. I rejoiced because I knew that by the power of the One in me, the prayer that we made could destroy every trace of arthritis in her body. Praise God! By the time the prayer was over, and she was completely healed.

If you can appropriately use your personal testimony in preaching God’s Word, it can be a powerful tool to help the hearer obey the truth in the Word of God!
